Trusses

Utah Roof Trusses cost. Pre-engineered trusses form the skeleton of your roof and speed up framing. These are delivered ready to install.

What’s Included

This scope includes the design, engineering, manufacturing, and delivery of pre-fabricated roof trusses. Pricing is based on square footage of roofed area, roof pitch, number of valleys/hips/dormers, and load ratings. Truss layout plans and calculations are usually included. Onsite crane time and installation are not included here — that's part of framing labor.

Builder Tips:

  • Provide your framer’s layout or full roof plan for accurate quoting. Higher roof complexity = more expensive trusses, especially with hips, Dutch gables, or vaulted ceilings. Many truss suppliers offer free layout service if your design is final. Ask if the quote includes submittals and structural calcs for permit review.

Real World Example:

A 4,200 sq ft home with a 6:12 pitch roof and moderate complexity (hips, front porch gable):
  • Truss bid from two suppliers: $17,500–$21,000

  • Cost per framed sq ft: ~$4.00–$5.00

  • Delivered in bundles with layout sheet for crane installation

FAQ

Q: What affects truss pricing most?

A: Roof pitch, complexity, vaults, and load ratings. Simpler roofs with single ridgelines are much cheaper.

Q: Do I need to hire an engineer separately?

A: No. Truss manufacturers provide stamped engineering and layout drawings.

Q: Are attic or bonus room trusses more expensive?

A: Yes — they’re custom and require more lumber and bracing.

Q: What if the layout changes after the bid?

A: Trusses are custom-fabricated, so changes can incur full redesign and reprint fees.
