Utah Temporary Site Services cost. These are the on-site utility and sanitation services required throughout the construction process.
What’s Included
This line item includes setup and rental of temporary power poles or generators, porta potty rentals, temporary water lines, propane tanks if applicable, and winter heat if needed. It also covers temporary dumpsters, jobsite signage, and safety fencing depending on city or HOA requirements. Service duration depends on build timeline; most providers offer monthly rates.
Notes:
rental/setup/servicing of site toilet, roll-off dumpster, and temp power connection
Builder Tips:
Power poles often take 1–2 weeks for Rocky Mountain Power to set up, so plan early. Winter heating is critical in northern Utah — check if your HVAC sub can install temporary gas heaters before insulation. Toilets and dumpsters are usually rented longer than needed — coordinate pickup as soon as framing is complete. If you’re the owner-builder, make sure you keep all rentals up to date to avoid delays or citations.
Real World Example:
For a 4,400 sq ft home in Lehi, UT:
Temporary power install and rental: ~$1,500
Porta potty rental (5 months): ~$1,100
Winter construction heat: ~$1,800
Dumpster rental (4 hauls): ~$1,600
Jobsite signage/fencing: ~$400
Total: ~$6,400
FAQ
Q: Do I need both power and propane?
A: In winter, yes — propane is often used to power portable heaters before gas service is live.
Q: Are porta-potty rentals required?
A: Yes — most cities require an on-site toilet for all trades and inspections.
Q: When can I stop renting dumpsters?
A: After insulation or drywall phase, most debris is minimal. Confirm with your framer and finish crews.
Q: Can I skip fencing?
A: Depends on your city and HOA — some require safety or silt fencing for inspection.
