Cabinetry

Utah Cabinetry costs. From kitchens to mudrooms, custom or semi-custom cabinets define the look and utility of your home's interior.

What’s Included

Includes design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of cabinets for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry, mudroom, and built-in storage. Scope typically includes drawers, doors, soft-close hardware, crown molding, toe kicks, and trim. Excludes countertops and appliance panels unless specified. Pricing depends on wood species, paint/stain finish, box construction (plywood vs. MDF), and level of customization.

Notes:

Builder Tips:

  • Request shop drawings early — cabinet timelines can be 6–12 weeks. In Utah, white painted shaker cabinets remain the most popular, though stained oak is trending again. Ask if installation includes hardware pulls and crown molding. Built-ins like lockers or study nooks can add thousands — clarify which rooms are included.

Real World Example:

A 5,200 sq ft home with full kitchen, walk-in pantry, 5 bathrooms, and mudroom lockers:
  • Mid-range painted cabinets: $230–$260 per linear foot

  • Total cabinet footage: ~160 LF

  • Total: ~$41,000 for cabinets (excludes countertops and appliances)

FAQ

Q: Are countertops included?

A: No — cabinets are separate from tops, which are usually bid under quartz/granite suppliers.

Q: What’s better — plywood or MDF boxes?

A: Plywood is stronger and preferred in humid zones (like kitchens/baths). MDF is budget-friendly.

Q: Can I use IKEA or other prefab?

A: Yes, but many Utah builders prefer local shops for fit, timeline, and consistency.

Q: What’s the lead time?

A: Most Utah cabinet shops need 6–10 weeks after final dimensions — order early!
