Concrete Coatings

Utah Concrete Coatings costs. Epoxy and polyaspartic coatings turn basic concrete garage or basement floors into clean, durable, and chemical-resistant surfaces.

What’s Included:

Includes prep, crack repair, and application of multi-coat systems (typically a base coat, flake broadcast, and top coat). Most systems are installed over garage slabs or mechanical rooms, with optional UV and chemical protection. Polyaspartic coatings cure faster and resist yellowing, while epoxy offers good value but requires longer dry times. Scope excludes grinding or leveling of significantly uneven slabs.

Notes:

  • Includes surface prep, crack repair, base coat, flake or color, and topcoat

Builder Tips:

  • Utah’s cold winters and hot summers create slab movement — choose flexible coatings with good adhesion. Garage floors must cure for 28+ days before coating. Moisture tests are recommended before applying epoxy. Ask about warranty and slip resistance, especially if the garage slopes or gets snow melt. Avoid DIY kits for new construction — they lack durability for Utah conditions.

Real World Example:

A 4,200 sq ft home with a 950 sq ft 3-car garage:
  • Full polyaspartic flake system: ~$6.50/sq ft

  • Total: 950 × $6.50 = $6,175 installed

FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

A: Epoxy is cheaper but takes longer to cure. Polyaspartic is more UV stable and faster to install.

Q: Will hot tires or snow melt damage it?

A: No — quality coatings are designed to withstand heat and water, but prep and materials matter.

Q: Can I coat basement or shop floors too?

A: Yes — most coatings can be used in utility rooms, basements, and even patios if prepped properly.

Q: Is it slippery when wet?

A: Most systems include flake or grit for slip resistance, but polished finishes can still be slick with snow or oil.
