Exterior Painting
Utah Exterior Painting costs. Exterior painting protects your home's shell and ties together color, curb appeal, and longevity. There is a large variety of types and quality of external paint.
What’s Included
Includes pressure washing, surface prep, priming (if required), and two coats of paint on siding, soffits, fascia, eaves, corner boards, trim, and exposed beams. Materials typically include high-end exterior acrylic paints. Color changes, accent colors, and exposed rafter tails may increase cost. Excludes stucco color coat (which is not painted) and any stain-grade elements unless specifically noted.
Notes:
prep, masking, primer, paint, materials + labor for siding, trim, soffits, fascia, eaves
Builder Tips:
Ask whether the bid includes caulking joints and nail holes — these are essential for long-term weatherproofing. Darker colors tend to fade faster in Utah’s high UV areas (e.g., St. George). Confirm access — upper gables or tall elevations may require lift rental. Painting is typically done after siding and trim installation but before final landscaping to avoid overspray.
Real World Example:
A 4,200 sq ft home with fiber cement lap siding and full trim:
Exterior paint labor + materials: $1.75–$2.25/sq ft (of siding surface)
Siding area: ~3,200 sq ft
Total: 3,200 × $2.00 = $6,400
Includes soffits, fascia, and corner boards
