Builder Tips:

  • Ask if installation includes fire-rated doors between garage and house — these are code required in Utah. Fiberglass is most common for affordability and energy performance. Wood doors require maintenance in Utah’s dry climate and are best used under covered porches. Large pivot or multi-panel sliding doors can dramatically increase cost — confirm dimensions early.

Real World Example:

A 4,200 sq ft home with 5 exterior doors:
  • 1 fiberglass entry door with sidelight: $1,800 installed

  • 2 rear steel utility doors: $800 total

  • 1 8’ wide sliding patio door: $2,500 installed

  • 1 garage-to-house fire door: $450

  • Total: ~$5,550 for full door package

FAQ

Q: Are garage overhead doors included?

A: No — those are handled by a separate trade.
