Builder Tips:

  • Lighting fixtures are typically purchased by the homeowner or designer — verify if your bid includes an allowance or is labor-only. Coordinate fixture delivery to match final electrical walkthrough. Install exterior lights last to avoid construction damage. In Utah, recessed can lights and modern black or brass finishes are trending in new builds.

Real World Example:

A 4,200 sq ft home with 65 total fixtures (interior + exterior):
  • Mid-tier fixture budget: $6,000–$9,000

  • Labor install: ~$1,500–$2,200

  • Total: ~$7,500–$11,200 for full lighting package

  • Includes chandeliers, vanities, fans, porch lights, and stair lighting
