Builder Tips:
Most Utah builders separate rough plumbing and finish plumbing into two trades or bid phases. Ensure all countertops, tile, and cabinets are complete before scheduling finish plumbing. Many finish plumbers charge trip fees if fixtures are missing or spaces aren’t ready. Check that all trim pieces are matched to the valve brand — especially with shower systems.
Real World Example:
A 4,500 sq ft home with 4.5 baths, 2 kitchen sinks, 1 prep sink, laundry sink, and water softener:
Finish plumbing labor (excluding fixtures): $4,800–$6,200
Add ~$3,500–$6,000 for mid-range fixtures
Total: ~$9,500–$12,000 depending on selections and site readiness
FAQ
Q: Are the fixtures included?
A: Not usually — homeowners or designers typically select and purchase all plumbing fixtures.
Q: Who installs the tub?
A: Freestanding tubs are installed at finish. Drop-in tubs are often placed during rough plumbing.
Q: Can plumbers install owner-supplied fixtures?
A: Yes, but verify that all parts (valves, trim, hoses) are included. Missing components cause delays.
Q: When is this done?
A: After cabinets, countertops, and tile are complete — usually just before final inspections.
